Solid–Electrolyte Interface Formation on Si Nanowires in Li-Ion Batteries: The Impact of Electrolyte Additives

چکیده

The morphological changes of Si nanowires (Si NWs) cycled in 1:1 ethylene–carbonate (EC)/diethyl–carbonate (DEC) with or without different additives, fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) vinylene (VC), as well the composition deposited solid–electrolyte interphase layer, are investigated by a combination experimental microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. Scanning electron microscopy optical spectroscopy highlight that NW morphology is better preserved samples presence FEC VC additives compared to additive-free electrolyte. However, only use capable slightly mitigating amorphization silicon upon cycling. solid electrolyte (SEI) formed over NWs richer organic inorganic carbonates SEI grown additives. Furthermore, both able remarkably limit degradation LiPF6 salt. Overall, FEC-additive carbonate-based promotes structural resilience cycling thanks optimal layer.

Understanding the surface modification mechanism of electrolyte additives on silicon anodes in Li-ion batteries

Silicon has been widely considered as the next generation anode material for lithium-ion batteries, due to its substantially higher capacity compared to conventionally used graphite. However, silicon-based electrodes suffer from problems such as poor capacity retention and low coulombic efficiency. Significant amount of work has been devoted to improve the performance of silicon electrodes. Amo...

Electrode-electrolyte interface in Li-ion batteries: current understanding and new insights.

Understanding reactions at the electrode/electrolyte interface (EEI) is essential to developing strategies to enhance cycle life and safety of lithium batteries. Despite research in the past four decades, there is still limited understanding by what means different components are formed at the EEI and how they influence EEI layer properties. We review findings used to establish the well-known m...

SnO2 Nanowires on Carbon Nanotube Film as a High Performance Anode Material for Flexible Li-ion Batteries

Today, Li-ion batteries (LIBs) are the most common rechargeable batteries used in electronic devices. SnO2 with theoretical specific capacity of 782 mAh/g is among the best anode materials for LIBs. In this report, Three-dimensional SnO2 nanowires (NWs) on carbon nanotube (CNT) thin film (SnO2 / CNT) is fabricated using a combination of vacuum filtration and thermal evaporation techniques. The ...
